Howard Charles Trueger
Obituary written by Howard’s loving wife, Barbara.

Howard Charles Trueger passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026 after being in hospice care.
Howard was born on June 16, 1945. He always prided himself on being a “Bloom’s Day Baby!” Howard played hard and worked hard. He was a romantic, devoted husband to me for 56 years of marriage. We met at the University of Pittsburgh where he was an active member of Phi Epsilon Pi fraternity. He then earned his law degree at Seton Hall University – where he was on Law Review and Chairman of Appellate Moot Court. Howard practiced law for twenty-five years, having established his own law firm; then worked for Flintlock Construction Company until his retirement.
Howard was a voracious reader, often quoting authors’ words during conversations. Howard loved sports, was a lifeguard at the New Jersey shore, and actively played football and lacrosse both in high school and college. On weekends he was a devoted TV college and professional football fan. We raced our sailboat, “Sweet Witch,” winning many trophies, ultimately first place of the “40 Class Nationals.”
Howard loved to have fun, tell jokes, explore restaurants, and spend time with friends. A music aficionado, for many years we held season tickets to the New York Philharmonic, as well as Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Howard leaves behind his loving and dedicated wife; children: Debra Maddow (Charles), Noah (Kari), and Seth (Carly); grandchildren: Pacey, Juliet, Ethan, Chester, and Shep.
